Hi, I’m Sarah, the one woman team behind Bow Peep by Sarah and in my pre-coronavirus life I was (am?!) a freelance costume maker based in Manchester. I’ve spent the last 7 years flitting between several of the North West’s regional theatres, making costumes for some great shows alongside some fantastic wardrobe teams. Prior to that, I toured the UK for 4 years. I’d never considered having my own business before, I had a career that I loved and could work around my family life. But then 2020 happened... need I say more?! Bow Peep by Sarah was launched in June, mainly so that I could still create and keep myself sane. I have always made keepsakes as gifts for friends and their children so it has become an extension of thoughtful gift giving. Inspired by my children’s likes & dislikes and also my own childhood memories, I design fun clothes, accessories and keepsakes, made to last and bespoke to each individuals taste. I carefully source prints that are fun & timeless, a mixture of modern design and prints that evoke a sense of nostalgia. I have a range of adults homewares, aprons, bags etc and personalised birth year jumpers too. I love matching products. I have a range of items available in the same prints, so if you want matching aprons, I’ve got it... matching bags....got that too.... matching jumpers... you get it. You can pretty much mix and match anything. I select prints that I love, I design products that I use myself and then I leave the rest to you, you can pick what you want and in which fabric. My favourite product is my bespoke letter cushion, I made my first one 10 years ago & it is still loved by Eli today. They can be to celebrate a birth, a special birthday, or just because, there were even 2 ordered recently as gifts for flower girls! There’s lots of fabrics to choose from and you can have your choice of personalised embroidery, I’ve recently created a felt version too. I’m working on building more ranges over time and currently expanding the line of Christmas products available, ready for NOTWE’s Christmas market! I am loving building my business but I am missing theatre so much, mainly the buzz of the work room, the camaraderie and the constant singing from down the corridor, it’s not quite the same on your own in a loft room.
